Managing Your Customers

Identifying Member vs Customers

It`s easy to mix these two terms up, but they mean different things on your platform. Knowing the difference helps you understand your reports and manage the right group of people for loyalty, marketing and account purposes.

What`s the difference

  • Customer is anyone who has ordered from or registered on your website. This is your full customer database.
  • Member is a customer who has joined your Members Loyalty program and been assigned a Members Level. Members can get automatic discounts or special pricing based on their level.

Every member is a customer, but not every customer is a member.

Where to check

  1. Go to Customers in your dashboard.
  2. Filter by Members Level to see only customers who belong to a loyalty level.
  3. Customers with no Members Level assigned are regular customers only.

Tips

  • If you run a loyalty program, use the Members Level filter regularly to check who has been added and who might need reviewing.
  • See the Automated Members Loyalty article for how customers get assigned levels automatically.

Ask the assistant

The AI assistant can help you manage this directly. Try:

  • "Show me which customers are members with a loyalty level"
  • "How many customers do I have versus how many are members?"
